What's New in East Cobb's Restaurant Scene for 2026

If you've lived in East Cobb for a while, you've probably noticed our restaurant scene has changed quite a bit this year.

Several longtime favorites have closed their doors, exciting new restaurants have opened, and The Avenue East Cobb has become an even more popular destination for dinner, drinks, and weekend outings.

Whether you're looking for a new date night spot or simply wondering what happened to an old favorite, here's a look at what's new around East Cobb.

Saying Goodbye to a Few Local Favorites

Change is never easy, especially when it involves restaurants that have been part of the community for decades.

This year, East Cobb said goodbye to several longtime favorites.

La Madeleine

After serving the community for more than 30 years, La Madeleine at Providence Square closed in May. For many East Cobb residents, it had become a go-to spot for lunch, coffee meetings, and casual dinners.

Chicago's Steak & Seafood

Another longtime favorite, Chicago's Steak & Seafood, closed after an incredible 36-year run. It was the setting for countless celebrations, anniversary dinners, and family traditions.

Heavenly BBQ

Heavenly BBQ also closed this spring, leaving another familiar neighborhood location vacant.

Mirko Pasta

Mirko Pasta at Merchants Walk served its last customers in May. Fortunately, the space won't stay empty for long, as Shake Shack is planned for the property.

Even fast food wasn't immune to change this year. The Wendy's at Johnson Ferry Road and East Cobb Drive also permanently closed as part of the company's nationwide restructuring.

The Avenue East Cobb Continues to Grow

While several longtime restaurants closed, The Avenue East Cobb has quickly become one of the area's favorite places to dine.

Now nearly fully leased, it continues to attract new restaurants while creating an atmosphere that encourages people to stay awhile.

Tenku Sushi Elevation

One of the newest additions is Tenku Sushi Elevation.

Offering premium sushi, seafood, creative cocktails, rooftop seating, and an upscale atmosphere, it's quickly becoming one of East Cobb's most talked-about restaurants.

Luga Italian Eatery

Luga has brought authentic Italian cooking to The Avenue with handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, and a lively open kitchen.

If you haven't visited yet, it's well worth adding to your list.

Giulia Bakery

Need a coffee break?

Giulia has become one of my favorite stops for fresh pastries, croissants, espresso, and breakfast with friends.

The Plaza

One thing I especially love about The Avenue is The Plaza.

Throughout the year you'll find outdoor concerts, sporting events on the giant screen, holiday celebrations, and family-friendly gatherings that make it much more than a shopping center. It has truly become one of East Cobb's community gathering places.

New Restaurants Worth Trying

Beyond The Avenue, several new restaurants have opened around East Cobb.

Taqueria El Güero

Located on Roswell Road, Taqueria El Güero serves authentic Mexican favorites, including tacos, tortas, quesadillas, birria tacos, and even birria ramen.

Casa Grande Bar & Grill

Casa Grande recently opened its second location in East Cobb and offers generous portions of scratch-made Mexican dishes, including Molcajete, Lomo Saltado, and Tacos de Birria.

Aapka Food Adda

Fans of Indian cuisine will appreciate Aapka Food Adda's recent expansion, which now includes additional seating and an expanded buffet featuring both vegetarian and traditional Indian specialties.

Coming Soon: Dumpling Master

One opening I'm especially looking forward to is Dumpling Master.

Known for handmade soup dumplings, dim sum, noodles, and bubble tea, the restaurant plans to open in Providence Square, bringing another exciting dining option to East Cobb.

A Couple More Changes to Know About

Reunion Kitchen & Bar has closed its current location as the owners search for a new East Cobb home. Fortunately, they've made it clear this is a relocation rather than a permanent goodbye.

Later this fall, Mezza Luna Pasta & Seafood will become Trattoria Bella.

While the ownership remains the same, the restaurant will feature a refreshed Italian concept focused on handmade pastas, seafood, and an expanded wine program.

East Cobb Still Loves a Great Food Event

Even with all the restaurant changes, one tradition remains.

Taste of East Cobb continues to be one of my favorite annual events, bringing together dozens of local restaurants while supporting Walton High School's band programs.

The Avenue also hosts events throughout the year, including concerts, movie nights, holiday celebrations, and outdoor watch parties that make it a wonderful place to spend an evening.

Final Thoughts

One thing I love about East Cobb is that it continues to grow while holding onto the sense of community that makes people want to stay here.

Restaurants will always come and go, but it's exciting to see new local businesses investing in our community and creating fresh places to gather with family and friends.
